It was a typical cold, wet, Sunday afternoon in the Pacific northwest… of course it was only logical to load the dog in the car, and head out to the beach! We decided Canon beach is one big universal dog park. I’m pretty sure the one person we saw in town without a dog felt pretty left out 😉
After eating lunch, we let Dusty run free on the almost completely deserted beach inside Ecola State Park.
You’d think he’d be extra energized after the 90 minute car ride, but after 2 throws of the stick, what does he do!? Eat the stick. Must be all the salt build-up.”

- After proceeding to munch on a few other defenseless sticks, Dusty was starting to show signs of being ready to play.

- I think Dusty was actually just holding out for the tennis ball…

- Believe it or not, this was the first time Dusty had swam in the ocean! I wasn’t entirely sure how he’d take to the waves….

- … But of course, in true Dusty form, he was oblivious to everything other than the tennis ball.

- After the first 30 throws, I started to toss the ball a bit further into the ocean 🙂

- After about 50 throws Dusty started to lose some steam… or NOT. Actually, I’m pretty sure I was just hoping he’d start to slow down so my arm could begin its recovery. Believe it or not, throwing a ball as far as you can into the ocean is a lot of work!

- After throwing these ball 72 times for Dusty, I took a break to exercise the camera. This was a 6 second shutter to make the turbulent ocean look like calm fog.
On the drive home, Dusty was, as usual, very expressive. In one quick snapshot, he manages to emphasize his exhaustion (it IS possible!), AND his love for the back seat of a Mini Cooper (or lack thereof)
