Samoyed puppy loves the beach!

One of the byproducts of living in a city where summer lasts for 1 day (Saturday, Sept. 24) is that you learn to enjoy places like Cannon Beach, despite the rain, wind, and cold =). Fortunately, the rain stayed away just long enough to snap some pictures of Loki’s first time at the beach.

We were a little unsure if Loki would take to the water because we read that Samoyeds, like many Spitz breeds, occasionally suffer from Hydrophobia. Fortunately, Loki seemed to take to it almost as much as he took to Dusty.
It had been one week of the "annoying white fur ball" (Dusty's thoughts) chewing his ear, biting his tail, and stealing his bed, but take Dusty to the beach and all is forgiven!
Loki may have been a little timid at first, but after about 12 seconds he was ready for action!
Loki followed Dusty with all the exuberance a 12 week puppy could muster!
Although Dusty definitely has an age advantage, I think Loki will always have a hard time competing with Dusty for the ball!
Loki definitely took to liking the strange green object that his idol prized 😉
Loki caught it! Ok, actually, he was just a little clumsy in holding his prize, but I like to think the 12 week puppy could have caught the ball.
Cold ocean waves are meaningless to Dusty! This was one spot where Loki didn't follow Dusty.
Refreshing breeze, cool water, a tennis ball... it doesn't get much better than this!
I think Loki did manage to steal the spotlight from Dusty at least a few times 😉
He was very careful to make sure EVERYONE knew he had the tennis ball!
