This was our second adventure snow-shoeing, and our first in real “winter” conditions. Of course, Loki & Dusty loved it– Dusty because it meant he could chase endless snowballs, and Loki because it meant he could walk 10 feet without overheating 🙂
Most of the snow you see here came all within 1 week... Winter is finally here! (mid January)Leah did her best to corral Dusty & Loki for a picture... lesson learned: wait until AFTER they've expended all their energy.Although the problem with the "wait-until-the-dogs-are-tired-for-group-pictures" theory, is that DUSTY IS NEVER TIRED.The first part of the trail was the hardest. Although the entire trail is slightly uphill (700' elevation gain), it seems even harder when the snow & wind are coming at you with full force.Of course Dusty & Loki had lots of fun playing in the deep powder off-trail!I think the only time Dusty stopped running is when he thought I might be ready to take his picture...When Dusty wasn't posing for the camera, he was doing his best imitation of a butterfly stroke in the snow."I know the snowball is in here somewhere..."All in all, the 3 hour hike was a blast! This is us at the end. The lake really wasn't much to see, because the frozen lake was full of snow, making it look like a snowy field. Mt. Hood is towering behind us, but you can't see it through the thick fog.
